Quick AVI Creator (QAC) allows you to convert video and DVD to AVI (Audio Video Interleave) and MKV (Matroska Multimedia Container) both of them with video XviD or x264 codecs. To convert a file you have to click in the "...” button next to the text "Browse for input file". Browse your computer for a video or decrypted DVD and click the "Open" button. The program will scan the DVD structure of the file checking the audio and subtitle streams. Now click in the "...” button next to the text "Browse for output file" and browse the location of the output file (if you leave in blank this field, the program will automatically create the output file). Select the audio tracks from the track list (you can use the control key to select or deselect more than one audio track); select the desired subtitle track from the subtitle list (if desired). You can mark the "Retain existing audio encoding" option to disable MP3 encoding. If you don't want burnt-in subtitles mark the "Don't Hardcode subtitles - Only extract" option and the subtitles will be demuxed aside with the encoded avi. To encode the audio whit Lame ABR - preset 128 mark the "Lame VBR MP3 encoding (uncheck for CBR)" option. You can mark the "Delete temporary files when done" option to delete the temporary used files when the conversion is finished. Finally click in the “Go!” button to begin the conversion. Quick AVI Creator will demux the streams and it will prepare the Avisynth scrip. Then the AvsP main window will pop up. Here you will be able to preview the output, resize, trim, deinterlace, change frame rate, add Avisynth filters like denoise, etc. After making the desired modifications click in the Tools menu and select the option encode video. Calculate the target bit rate and click "Run" to encode the video.
